Product Description

Hawaiian koa’s rich and earthy complexion brings an exotic look to one of Taylor’s most popular and portable guitars on this limited edition GS Mini. The all-koa model features a pickguard-free top of solid Hawaiian koa, layered koa back and sides, plus an onboard ES-2 pickup. The hardwood koa top will yield a focused response with a splash of extra top-end chime. Other standard GS Mini appointments include an all-matte finish, 5mm dot fretboard inlays, a 3-ring rosette, and chrome tuners. The guitar ships in a GS Mini hard bag.

Nice! I have a Mini Hog which sounds like this and I love it. The Koa aesthetically is great. Nice planning on being in no-snow-head-to-toe sunny SoCal at this time. It’s gonna be hard going back to Bozeman!

The Taylor GS Mini-e Koa is absolutely phenomenal. I know the claim, “this is a small guitar that doesn’t skimp on big guitar sound!” gets thrown around incessantly regarding every small-body guitar these days, but I can 100% confirm that it rings true for the GS Mini.

The GS Mini does not sound “boxy” at all, and it still is a comfortable size when playing. I really love the Koa tonewood—it looks gorgeous and it sounds warmer than standard tonewoods like spruce (additionally, Koa can sound even better and more balanced as it gets broken in, so that’s something else to look forward to). The ES2 pickup that comes already installed in the Koa model sounds great! Compared to many other guitars I’ve played/owned, it sounds much more natural when plugged in. The battery is also easy to access, and the knobs are simple and responsive. My only complaint is the lack of an onboard tuner for quick tuning while playing at loud gigs. But my simple solution to that was purchasing a D’Addario NS Micro Tuner (accurate tuner that is small enough to have clipped on all the time, even when stored).

All things considered, this may easily start being one of my main acoustic guitars in my guitarsenal. I definitely recommend the Taylor GS Mini-e Koa to anyone and everyone, whether it be for traveling, gigging, or just playing at home. Taylor knocks yet another one out of the park!
