This vintage 1950 Martin 000 28 has some serious character…so much so that we gave him a name. Franklin sounds phenominally rich, full and articulate and has a mature, wise, been-around-the-block visual appeal that only an original 1950’s guitar could have.
Marcus Engstrom, our genius guitar smith from Bjursas, Sweden, made this vintage 1950 Martin 000 28 his special project over the course of five or six months. Marcus is known around these parts for his inhuman level of detail. He’s not just the best repair tech we’ve ever met, he’s also a very skilled guitar builder and he plays the heck out of the guitar and dobro.
So without coming right out and saying “if Marcus worked on it, it’s amazing”, let’s just say this guitar is living a second life it never thought it would have. It’s a true vintage guitar with many storys left to tell.
Some of the things Marcus did to rebuild this Martin 000:
- Spliced a piece of spruce in to fix the center crack
- Full set up
- Neck reset
- Reshaped the saddle
- Reshaped the nut
- Tuned up the tuners
A few details…
- Sitku spruce top
- Brazilian Rosewood back and sides
- Thicker “vintage” 50’s style neck
- Kluson tuners
- Rounded square peg head
- Vintage decal
- 1/11/16 neck
- Ebony fingerboard.
