On the heels of the success of the 2019 release of the "G" series line of acoustic guitars, Gibson has taken the concept of using all North American Tonewoods, and building a line of innovative USA acoustic guitars starting at under $1000!

The new "Generations Collection" from Gibson acoustics is launching with four different models; including a parlor, two dreadnought options, and a jumbo.

Each of these guitars features Walnut back and sides, Sitka Spruce tops, TUSQ nut, and saddle, along with Grover Mini Rotomatic tuners and include a deluxe gig bag. Both the G-Writer and the G-200 include an LR Baggs Element Bronze pickup.

An idea from the 1960s brought to life.

The Gibson Player Port is an original Gibson concept from the early 1960s that has been refined by Gibson's acoustic team to deliver a sonic improvement that adds a new dimension to the sound. The Gibson Player Port allows you to hear the guitar as you're playing it like you've never heard it before—the same way your audience hears it—maximizing the sonic impact for an immersive playing and listening experience.

Four Generations Collection Models

The Generations Collection includes four models, making sure there is a guitar perfect for everyone.

The G-00 is a small-bodied parlor guitar, perfect for anyone looking for a small guitar for singer-songwriters needing a guitar that is easy to carry around.

The G-45 is the incredibly familiar "J-45" style, that will feel right at home with most players.

The G-Writer takes its design from the Songwriter line of guitars. The G-Writer has a cutaway for access to higher frets and includes a. LR Baggs Element Bronze Pickup.

The G-200 cutaway jumbo is the perfect guitar for anyone looking for the big, rich tone of a jumbo, in a modern package.

Final Thoughts

The Generations Collection from Gibson is an excellent next step in acoustic building. These guitars put true USA-built Gibsons at a price point that makes owning one a reality for most players. The use of North American tonewoods and sustainable practices should be applauded in an industry that can resist change. Overall, these are great guitars that feel and sound like a Gibson, with some unique features that players will love.
